So you’ve got dreams about becoming one of those big time investment bankers on Wall Street? The first step is to watch movies about that lifestyle so that you can fake it till you make it. We’re kidding, but still.
1. The Wolf of Wall Street
There are so many things in this movie that seem way too unbelievable – the lavish extravagance and copious amounts of drugs, to start. But remember, it’s based on the true story of Jordan Belfort – he actually did live like this for a time.
2. The Big Short
Probably the funniest take we’ve seen about the American banking system to date, this movie gives you a different perspective of the 2008 recession.
3. Trading Places
Ever wondered if you’re just a pawn in a game? This movie is about just that – with an investor and con artist switching lives as part of a bet by two millionaires.
4. Wall Street
This 1987 film is shown through the eyes of a young businessman, who enters the world of investments as a young hungry stockbroker who figures out that insider trading is the easiest and quickest way to make it to the top.
5. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
This sequel follows Gordon Gekko after his jail time – he picks up yet another apprentice, and we’re shown that he still hasn’t changed since the events of the first movie.
6. The Company Men
This movie focuses on three men who are trying to survive a round of corporate downsizing and how it affects their lives and their families.
7. Rogue Trader
Also based on a true story, this movie follows the story of Nick Leeson, who almost singlehandedly bankrupted one of Britain’s largest financial institutions.
